TVI指标是确定出入场点、趋势方向和超买/超卖信号的综合震荡指标。
当市场趋势看涨并且TVI柱的颜色由红变蓝时，就是买入资产的时机；因为价格或随着总体的牛市进一步上涨。颜色改变是进入市场的信号。
如果市场下行并且TVI柱已经变为红色，这是卖出资产的信号；因为价格或继续下跌。当指标改变颜色时即为入市的时机。
指标的基础线用于决定市场趋势。它贯穿着柱状图的顶峰和谷底。
如果指标线穿越至零水平以下，总体趋势转为下行。如果基础线穿越至零线以上，趋势转为上涨。
市场趋势会被自动确认。方向显示在指标窗口的左上角(“up”向上或向下“down”)并且仅对应所选的时间框架。
如果右侧柱的顶端低于左侧柱且价格上涨，为市场背离，发出即将向下翻转的信号。右侧顶峰高于左侧并且价格下跌是回调信号，指示翻转上行即将到来。
