移动止损是一种订单，其主要功能是自动维护持有的头寸，根据价格变动自动更改止损水平。
工作原理
交易者开设一个多头头寸，并且设定当前价格与移动止损之间的点数。如果价格上涨，移动止损随之自动上涨以保持设定的点差。如果价格下跌，则移动止损水平保持不变。用这种方式，交易员无需考虑获利水平并且有机会用移动止损获得价格上涨时的最大利润。不仅如此，移动止损也限制了亏损。
例如，交易者在价格1.3400开设一个买入头寸并且将移动止损设定在下方50点，即1.3350。如果价格开始上涨并且超过了标记的1.3400，移动止损自动跟随并且与当前价格保持50点的差距。也就是说如果价格触及1370，移动止损变为1320。
如果价格下降，移动止损位置不变。
如果是开设卖出头寸，移动止损的行为则完全相反。交易者将其设置在价格上方的若干点。价格下降使移动止损按照设定的点数移动。价格上涨，移动止损不动。
交易者在外汇交易中使用止损时不得不随着交易利润的增加手动更改止损订单。而移动止损根据交易者需要的值自动设置止损水平。
移动止损主要由进行趋势交易的交易者们应用，但不变地追踪价格的变动是不可能的。当需要对价格变动作出快速反应时，日内交易也应该使用移动止损。
值得牢记的是移动止损仅在交易终端活动时工作。当交易终端关闭时，止损将在当时的水平固定。
