Elon Musk reportedly interested in buying Liverpool FC
Another bombshell in the financial world! According to the Daily Mail, citing statements by Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO is eyeing an ambitious takeover of English football club Liverpool.
American entrepreneur Elon Musk is interested in acquiring Liverpool FC, Errol Musk confirmed the news on January 7. ''Oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying it,'' Musk’s father said. ''He would like to, yes, obviously, anybody would want to. So would I.''
When asked by journalists why the idea of owning the iconic football club is so important to Elon Musk, Errol Musk explained that their family has deep ties to the city of Liverpool in the county of Merseyside. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool, you know," Errol Musk concluded.
The Daily Mail notes that the billionaire may approach Liverpool’s owner, John Henry, to inquire about purchasing the football club. For context, John Henry also owns the Boston Red Sox, an MLB team, and the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins. However, it remains unclear just how serious Elon Musk is about this acquisition.
