Last Friday, on February 17, the large-scale protest action was held in Minsk. It was the first strike of such a scale, taken place in Belarus.
More than 2 000 people came to the city streets. The participants of the unauthorized march protested against the so-called tax on parasites.
The protesters were walking along Independence Avenue to the building of the Ministry of Taxes and Assessments.
During the rally the protesters burned the tax receipts around the building of the Ministry of Taxes and Assessments. The citizens actively demonstrated their opposition to the recently adopted law providing for tax on non-employed people.
As noted, the rally was held without serious incidents. The law-enforcement agencies didn't prevent the movement.
